A man has been arrested in connection with a car break-in that allegedly involved the theft of unreleased Beyoncé music. Kelvin Evans was taken into custody in Atlanta on charges of entering a vehicle with intent to commit theft and a parole violation, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident was reported on 8 July by Beyoncé's choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue. They told police that while they were at a restaurant, the window of their hire car was smashed and two suitcases were stolen. The suitcases contained valuable unreleased material belonging to the singer.
Grant informed officers that he had been carrying 'some personal sensitive information' for Beyoncé. The stolen items included two Apple laptops and five thumb drives containing unreleased music and other digital files related to her tour. Atlanta police spokesman Anthony Grant said none of the items have been recovered.
Online jail records for Fulton County do not currently list legal representation for Mr Evans. The arrest comes amid a high number of vehicle break-ins in Atlanta, with 7,195 thefts from vehicles reported in 2024 and 3,185 since January. Police recorded 105 thefts from cars in the week before the incident.
