Taylor Swift has revealed details of her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, set for release on 3 October. The singer shared the cover and track listing on Wednesday, timed with her appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights.
The 12-track album – a nod to her 12th studio record – features a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the title track and includes a cover of George Michael’s 1987 song Father Figure. Swift described the album as “infectiously joyful and wild”, recorded in Europe during her record-breaking Eras tour.
Swift told the Kelce brothers that the album draws on her experiences over two years on the road. “This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,” she said. “That effervescence has come through on this record.”
Unlike her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department, Swift confirmed there will be no surprise second album. “This is 12. There’s not a 13th, not other ones coming. This is the record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time,” she said.
The album marks the return of Swedish producers Max Martin and Shellback, who worked on Swift’s earlier albums Red, 1989 and Reputation. Swift called them “geniuses” and noted their work on hits like Shake It Off and Blank Space.
