The owners of BrewChimp in Flixton have announced they will be putting the business up for sale after seven years. The bar opened on Flixton Road in November 2019, taking over the former Bistro 432 and AT's Café site. It was the second BrewChimp venue, following the original in Urmston on Church Road.
Community hub
The cosy bar has been a focal point for the community, hosting events such as World Cup screenings and silent discos. It also started serving food through its in-house Roadhouse Burgers & BBQ brand and hosted private functions.
In a statement posted online on Tuesday, July 28, bosses said the Flixton site would soon go up for sale but would remain open and operational in the meantime. The post read: "After a lot of careful thought, and due to other commitments, we've made the difficult decision to put BrewChimp Flixton up for sale over the coming week. This certainly wasn't an easy decision. We've made so many fantastic memories here, and it's all been possible because of the incredible support from our customers. You've created an amazing community, and we're genuinely grateful for every visit, every chat, and every pint shared."
Customer reactions
The bar will stay fully operational until its sale date. The statement added that private parties and pre-existing bookings would be honoured or an alternative venue offered. The news prompted sadness from the local community. One person wrote: "What a shame for the community! It's a real hub." Another said: "Sad news as we have met some lovely people here!" Others commented: "Oh no that’s such a shame," "There must be a way," and "Not my beloved BrewChimp."
It is understood that BrewChimp’s other sites in Urmston and Stretford are not affected by the sale and will continue to operate as standard. BrewChimp Flixton is located at 432 Flixton Rd, Urmston, Manchester M41 6QT.
