Protesters caused damage to a hotel and shouted racist abuse as they gathered in Liverpool city centre on Tuesday night (June 9). A group of protesters assembled outside St George's Hall at around 7pm before marching through the city centre.
Incident Details
During the protest, a window was damaged at the Richmond Hotel. Witnesses reported hearing people shouting racist abuse, prompting Merseyside Police to launch an investigation to identify those responsible. Police are also looking into other potential offences related to the protest.
Police Statement
A police spokesperson said: "We respect the right of individuals to peacefully gather and express their views in accordance with the law, however, we will never tolerate criminality or anti-social behaviour."
