A shocking incident of alleged antisemitism has erupted in North London after a Jewish family was thrown out of a popular Greek taverna following a discussion about the conflict in Gaza.
The altercation, which was captured on video and has since gone viral, occurred at the Alexander the Great restaurant in Camden. The footage shows restaurant staff and management aggressively demanding that the group leave the premises immediately.
The Confrontation Erupts
The dispute reportedly began when another diner, unconnected to the Jewish family, made comments about the situation in Gaza. When a member of the family challenged these remarks, the restaurant's owner became involved. Instead of mediating, the owner allegedly sided with the other patron and told the Jewish group, "I don't want your business, get out."
In the video, a woman can be heard pleading, "We’ve done nothing wrong", while staff members usher them towards the exit. The owner is seen pointing at the door, insisting they leave without paying for their unfinished meals.
Community Backlash and Official Response
The incident has provoked widespread condemnation from community leaders and organisations. The Campaign Against Antisemitism labelled the ejection "blatant antisemitism" and announced it would be reporting the matter to the Metropolitan Police.
A police spokesman confirmed: "We are aware of a video showing a group of people being asked to leave a restaurant in Camden. We are making enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident."
The restaurant has denied any accusations of prejudice, claiming the group was asked to leave due to "abusive behaviour"—an assertion strongly contested by the victims and video evidence.
A Disturbing Pattern
This event highlights growing concerns over the spillover of international conflicts onto UK streets and into community spaces. It raises serious questions about the safety and comfort of British Jews in public venues amid rising global tensions.
Local MP Keir Starmer and other officials have been urged to address the matter, as many call for a thorough investigation to ensure such discrimination has no place in London's diverse hospitality industry.
