A convicted criminal who caused the death of a 77-year-old man in a devastating road collision has been handed a significant prison sentence after attempting to reinvent himself as a legal expert on TikTok while awaiting trial.
Deadly Crash and Deceptive Aftermath
Harry Gabb, 22, was behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Corsa that collided with retired company director Peter Green in Farnham, Surrey. The elderly victim suffered catastrophic injuries and tragically passed away in hospital five days after the horrific incident.
While released under investigation for causing death by dangerous driving, Gabb embarked on an audacious scheme to pose as a qualified solicitor on the popular video platform TikTok.
The TikTok Lawyer Fraud
Creating content under the username @lawyerinthemaking, Gabb produced numerous videos offering legal advice to thousands of followers. The imposter presented himself as a genuine legal professional, despite having no legal qualifications or training whatsoever.
His deceptive online presence grew substantially, with his videos accumulating over 250,000 views as he dispensed legal guidance while simultaneously facing serious criminal charges himself.
Courtroom Consequences
At Winchester Crown Court, Gabb received a comprehensive sentence for his multiple offences. The court handed down six years for causing death by dangerous driving, with an additional 18 months for fraud-related activities to run consecutively.
Judge Jane Miller KC delivered a scathing assessment of Gabb's conduct, stating his social media deception demonstrated "a profound lack of remorse and a concerning pattern of dishonest behaviour."
Police Condemnation
Investigating officers expressed outrage at Gabb's actions. Sergeant Chris Smith of Surrey Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit described the case as "particularly disturbing due to the defendant's complete lack of integrity."
He emphasised that while nothing could restore the life taken, the sentence reflected the severity of both the fatal collision and the subsequent fraudulent activities that compounded the family's suffering.
