Emmerdale Axes Bradley Johnson After Seven Years

Emmerdale has reportedly axed actor Bradley Johnson, who plays Vinny Dingle, after seven years on the ITV soap. The departure is part of ongoing cost-cutting measures at the channel, which have led to a series of cast exits described as a 'bloodbath'.

Johnson, 28, joined the show in 2019 as Mandy Dingle's adopted son, part of Lisa Riley's return storyline. A source told The Sun that Johnson is a popular cast member, especially close with his on-screen Dingle family, and that his axing has shocked colleagues. The source added: 'They are making less episodes so don’t need as many characters.'

Johnson has been involved in major storylines including the return of his abusive father Paul, his relationship with Liv Flaherty and her death, a short-lived marriage to Gabby Thomas, and struggles with his sexuality. In 2022, he said: 'I’m just loving my time on Emmerdale, as long as the writing is great, as it is, I’m just grateful to be here.'

The source claimed Lisa Riley is 'devastated' by Johnson's exit, saying: 'She adores Bradley and they have such a close bond. It just shows that no-one is safe.' ITV declined to comment when contacted by the Mirror.

Johnson's reported exit follows news that Nick Miles (Jimmy King) and Olivia Bromley (Dawn Taylor) are also leaving. Jimmy King is rumoured to be killed off in a major stunt later this year, with his ex-wife Sadie King returning. Rumours suggest further cast deaths may occur in a planned stunt.
