Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer has candidly discussed his struggles with alcohol and drugs, admitting he reached a point where he knew he needed professional intervention.
In a raw and honest revelation, the actor, best known for playing Mick Carter on the BBC soap, shared how his substance use spiralled out of control before he sought help.
'I Was in a Dark Place'
Dyer described his lowest moments, saying, "I was in a dark place, drinking heavily and dabbling in drugs. It got to the point where I couldn't function properly."
The 46-year-old actor admitted that his lifestyle was affecting both his personal life and professional career before he made the decision to enter rehab.
The Turning Point
"There was a moment when I looked in the mirror and didn't recognise myself," Dyer revealed. "That's when I knew I had to make a change."
He credits his family and close friends for supporting him through his recovery journey, which included professional treatment and therapy.
Life After Rehab
Now sober, Dyer says he's in a much better place both mentally and physically. "Getting clean was the best decision I ever made," he stated. "I've got more energy, my relationships are stronger, and I'm more focused on my work."
The actor hopes his story will inspire others struggling with addiction to seek help, emphasising that "there's no shame in admitting you need support."
