Bury Police Arrest Two After Drug and Cash Seizure

Bury police have made two arrests after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of a knife, drugs, and a significant amount of cash. The incident occurred on Hall Street at 10:20 pm on Wednesday, June 10, when officers on patrol stopped a car they deemed suspicious.

Initial Arrest and Search

During the stop, officers found a knife inside the vehicle. A 26-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. Following the arrest, police searched a nearby property, where they uncovered a 'significant amount' of suspected MDMA and cannabis resin, along with approximately £10,000 in cash and multiple mobile phones. The phones will be examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Second Arrest Made

In an update issued on Friday morning, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. He remains in police custody for questioning.

Superintendent Phil Spurgeon of the Bury district praised the officers involved, stating: 'This is yet another example of positive, proactive action taken by our officers. If you are out there, intent on committing a criminal offence – whether that is dealing drugs, carrying a weapon, or breaking into houses or cars – we are out and about 24 hours a day and you will be caught.'

The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
