The peaceful town of Cobram in Victoria, Australia, has been rocked by a horrific incident that has left the community in mourning. A 42-year-old mother and her two children, a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, were found dead in their home in what authorities suspect to be a tragic murder-suicide.
Emergency services rushed to the property on Monday afternoon after receiving a distressing call from a concerned relative. Upon arrival, officers made the grim discovery of all three family members deceased inside the residence.
Community in Shock
Neighbours expressed their disbelief at the tragedy, describing the family as "quiet and kept to themselves." One local resident told reporters, "We never would have imagined something like this could happen here. It's absolutely devastating."
Police have confirmed they are not looking for any suspects in connection with the deaths, indicating they believe the mother took her own life after killing her children. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy remain under investigation.
Support Services Mobilised
Local authorities have deployed crisis support teams to assist grieving community members and classmates of the young victims. The children's school has offered counselling services to students and staff affected by the loss.
Detective Inspector Mark Thompson addressed the media, stating, "This is an incredibly sad situation that has affected the entire community. Our thoughts are with the extended family and friends during this difficult time."
Police have urged anyone struggling with mental health issues or domestic situations to reach out for help, emphasising the availability of support services.
