Missouri Man Charged with Murder in Brutal Domestic Shooting
A 33-year-old man from Missouri stands accused of the execution-style murder of the mother of his child, following a violent argument over his prized coin collection. Alan Michael Mellow allegedly shot 30-year-old Hannah Lee Blizard multiple times in the head at close range, with their three-month-old baby present.
Deadly Dispute Over Stolen Coins
According to a probable cause statement obtained by authorities, the fatal incident on Saturday, 22 December 2025, stemmed from a quarrel about Blizard's alcohol use. Mellow told police he believed Blizard had stolen coins from his personal collection to fund her addiction.
"He said that today they were arguing about her alcohol use and the fact she had stolen coins from his coin collection, which he believed she used to purchase alcohol," the police statement detailed. Mellow claimed Blizard decided to call her mother and leave with their child, prompting him to say he would not allow it and that he would leave with the baby instead.
The Fatal Confrontation in the Vehicle
Mellow told investigators he carried the infant outside to his Nissan, placed the child in the backseat, and got into the driver's seat. At that point, Blizard ran to the passenger side and entered the vehicle "to prevent him from leaving."
Mellow stated his handgun was already in the car. He confessed that when Blizard got in, he shot her 'a couple of times' in the head. He then moved to the passenger side intending to dump her body and flee, but instead took the unharmed child and returned to his apartment, where police later contacted him.
Hannah Lee Blizard was pronounced dead at the scene. The infant was not physically injured.
Charges and Custody
Alan Michael Mellow was subsequently arrested and now faces serious criminal charges. He has been charged with murder and child endangerment. Mellow is currently being held without bond at the Barry County Jail as the investigation continues.
This tragic case highlights the devastating intersection of domestic violence and disputes over personal property, culminating in an alleged act that authorities have described as an execution.
