Florida Couple Arrested for Forcing Girl to Drink Hot Sauce

Two adults in Florida have been arrested following disturbing allegations that they forced a young girl with a known allergy to drink hot sauce as part of what authorities describe as a bizarre punishment. The Cocoa Police Department investigated the claims of abuse last week, leading to the arrests of Ashley Eldredge, 37, and Robert Eldredge, 38.

Details of the Alleged Abuse

According to a police affidavit obtained by ClickOrlando, the girl reported that Ashley Eldredge made her ingest the spicy condiment despite her allergy. The victim stated that the hot sauce caused severe stomach pain and vomiting, with incidents occurring approximately ten times, resulting in vomiting about half of those instances. The punishment was allegedly administered whenever the girl was accused of lying.

Physical Discipline Allegations

The affidavit further details that Robert Eldredge would whoop the child with objects including a belt and a spoon. The girl claimed she was struck 15 times by his hand during one incident. When questioned by police about bruises on the child, Robert Eldredge suggested the girl engaged in self-harm but admitted to using a belt as punishment. He reportedly told authorities he whooped her ass because she wrote the same 14 sentences, though the meaning of this phrase remains unclear.

Arrests and Charges

Both Ashley and Robert Eldredge have been booked into the Brevard County Jail. Ashley Eldredge's bond has been set at $5,000, while Robert Eldredge's bond is $50,000. They face charges of child abuse without great bodily harm, classified as simple assault. Their next court appearance is scheduled for April 7.

Investigation and Response

Police became aware of the abuse claims last week, with the girl explaining that one punishment was for putting ink on the cat as part of an experiment, another phrase with unknown meaning. The Cocoa Police Department has been contacted for further comment on the case.

This incident highlights serious concerns about child welfare and the extreme measures some individuals may take in disciplining children, particularly when involving known allergies and physical harm.
