Tributes to mum and two children found dead in Bedford home

Tributes have been paid to a mother and her two children found dead at a £1.3 million property in Great Denham, near Bedford, on Monday. Police have identified a suspect who is believed to have fled abroad.

Victims identified as Zandile Tshuma and her children

Zandile Tshuma and her two children were discovered after officers forced entry into the detached house on Carnoustie Drive. The family friend, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Mirror: "I just hope they find him." The friend, whose daughter was best friends with the youngest victim, described the suspected killings as "incomprehensible" and said of the children: "Both of them - they were amazing."

Police investigation and suspect named

Bedfordshire Police have named a suspect who is understood to have left the country. Assistant Chief Constable John Murphy said: "This is a deeply distressing incident in which a mother and her two children are believed to have been murdered. Our thoughts are first and foremost with all those affected. We recognise that this will cause concern in the local community and beyond. This is the early stages of an incredibly complex investigation."

Property details and family background

The property, purchased two years ago by Zandile's husband Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, known as Mark, features a swimming pool, four bedrooms, and four bathrooms. Tshuma is a Computing Informatics graduate from the University of Plymouth. Both he and his wife are believed to be originally from Zimbabwe, while their children were born in the UK.

Police appeal for information

ACC Murphy stated: "We are committing all necessary resources to establish what has happened and to find the person responsible. We have identified a suspect, who was known to all three victims, and who we believe has since left the country." He indicated there is nothing to suggest any broader threat to the public, but added: "We will be increasing the police presence in and around the area to support the investigation and provide reassurance to residents." He appealed for anyone with information or who witnessed anything suspicious in Carnoustie Drive on Friday or Saturday to come forward.
