Brand's wife tearful as guilty verdicts read out

Laura Gallacher, the Scottish wife of Russell Brand, appeared tearful and in shock as guilty verdicts were delivered at Southwark Crown Court. Brand, 51, was found guilty of raping a young fan and three sexual assaults involving other women.

Gallacher was seen breathing heavily while being held by the hand by a woman during the hearing. She bowed her head as the first guilty verdict was read out and appeared to hold on to her chair, facing the judge for the rest of the proceedings.

Emotional Reaction in Court

Ms Gallacher, daughter of golfing legend Bernard Gallacher, covered her mouth in shock after the judge told Brand he was "minded" to remand him in custody. The judge cleared the court for a break at the end of the verdict hearing.

As she left the courtroom, Gallacher appeared to need support, with Brand's security guard Joe McCann seemingly helping to steady her. She walked quickly out of the building before getting into a waiting black Mercedes.

Bail Appeal and Sentencing

Before the jury delivered their verdicts on Thursday afternoon, Brand looked at his wife and said "Laura, I love you." The couple share three children together.

Brand's barrister, Ian Winter KC, appealed for bail ahead of sentencing on Monday as an "act of humanity". He noted that one of Brand's children had celebrated their birthday on Wednesday and are not yet aware of his convictions. Winter asked for bail for Brand to "put his affairs in order and in particular to say goodbye to his three young children."

The barrister insisted Brand "has not been a flight risk" and would surrender his passport and report to police to secure bail. Sentencing is scheduled for Monday.
