A murder investigation has been launched following the death of 16-year-old Khadeem Parris, who died from a stab wound after an incident at an address on Adnitt Road, Abington, Northampton, on Tuesday evening, July 7, 2026. Parris, from Motherwell, Scotland, was described by his family as a 'funny, smiling boy' who was 'ready and excited' to start college in August to study plumbing and electrical work.
Family tribute and background
In a statement released by Northamptonshire Police, Parris's family said: 'Khadeem was such a funny, smiling boy. He was always singing, he loved a joke, and he was such a kind son – he had a kindness inside of him. He had such strength too.' They added that he was 'an amazing brother' to his older brother and younger sister, enjoying play fights and spending time playing computer games together.
Parris also loved computer games, his PlayStation, and football. The family expressed their heartbreak, stating: 'Words can’t explain how we feel at this time. We cannot understand it and we are utterly heartbroken at his loss.'
Police investigation and arrests
On Friday, July 10, officers executed warrants on three properties in the Weedon Road area of Northampton as part of the murder investigation. No arrests were made during these warrants. However, a 21-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, July 9, on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Ryan Catling said: 'Our investigation is continuing at pace and we are following a number of lines of inquiry. However, we would still like to speak to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation.' He urged anyone with information or camera footage to come forward, as 'any small piece of information or camera footage is useful and could be the vital detail we need.'
Appeal for information
Northamptonshire Police continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or doorbell footage from the Adnitt Road area on the evening of July 7. The investigation remains ongoing.
