A Ryanair passenger was reportedly partially sucked out of a dislodged window during a flight from Thessaloniki, Greece, to Memmingen, Germany. The incident occurred on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on Friday morning, 10 July 2026.
Passenger's Harrowing Experience
According to the DailyStar, the male passenger was seen with his head and shoulders outside the aircraft, up to his shoulders through the window opening. His wife desperately clung to his legs to prevent him from being pulled out further.
Ryanair's Official Statement
Ryanair released a statement confirming the incident: "A Ryanair flight from Thessaloniki to Memmingen on Friday morning (10 July) returned to Thessaloniki shortly after take-off when a passenger window dislodged inflight. The aircraft landed normally and passengers returned to the terminal."
The statement added: "One passenger requested and received medical assistance on the ground in Thessaloniki. In order to minimise any delay, a replacement aircraft was arranged to bring passengers to Memmingen which departed Thessaloniki at 9:53 local this morning."
Flight Details and Aftermath
The flight was forced to return to Thessaloniki shortly after take-off. The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers disembarked. One passenger, believed to be the man who was partially sucked out, received medical attention. A replacement aircraft was provided to continue the journey to Memmingen, departing at 9:53 local time.
