Ryanair has confirmed it has moved to 100% Digital Boarding Passes (DBP). Passengers must download the Ryanair app and check in online, with reminders sent 48 and 24 hours before departure. Those who fail to check in online face an airport check-in fee of €/£55 for most flights or €/£30 for flights from Spain. Once checked in, the boarding pass appears automatically in the app. If a phone is lost or the battery dies after check-in, Ryanair will print a boarding pass for free. However, passengers flying from some airports in Morocco still need a printed pass, except for those departing from Marrakech, Fez, Agadir, Tangier, Nador, or Oujda, where digital passes are accepted.
Jet2 Offers Paperless and Printed Options
Jet2 provides a paperless option via its app, allowing passengers to store boarding passes for up to eight passengers on one device. The airline advises groups to stay together at bag drop, security, gate, and boarding when using multiple passes per device. For those who prefer a printed pass, Jet2 explains that passengers can log in to Manage My Booking, select ‘Get boarding pass’, and receive a PDF or save it to their device to show on screen at the airport.
TUI Accepts Both Digital and Paper Boarding Passes
TUI states that for flights with TUI Airways (flight numbers starting with TOM or BY), both digital and paper boarding passes are accepted. Passengers opting for a printed pass should use A4 paper, ensure the copy is clear with no rips or tears, and that the barcode is clearly visible for scanning. It is important to note that not all TUI package holidays use TUI Airways flights; if the flight is with another airline like Ryanair or easyJet, passengers must check that airline's rules.
easyJet: App Recommended but Some Airports Excluded
easyJet recommends downloading its app for convenience and to access mobile boarding passes offline via Apple or Google Wallet. However, a list of airports that do not accept mobile boarding passes includes Antalya and Izmir, as well as several airports in Egypt, Turkey, and Tunisia. For flights to these destinations, passengers should check in online and print a boarding pass. Physical boarding passes are still accepted for most flights, but easyJet warns that PDF scans on mobile devices cannot be scanned by airport security. If a boarding pass is lost, it can be printed again, ensuring the entire pass is clearly printed.
