Metro services are suspended on a section of the network this morning after a failed train caused disruption for passengers on the green and yellow lines. Nexus confirmed that the fault has developed on a maintenance vehicle, not one of the new Metro trains.
Services Affected
No trains are currently running in both directions between Heworth and Brockley Whins and Heworth and Jarrow. Engineers are working to resolve the issue, which has led to the suspension of Metros between Monument and South Shields / Brockley Whins for much of the afternoon.
Alternative Travel
Tickets and passes can be used on some bus services while the disruption continues. Passengers are advised to check for updates as engineers work to restore normal service.
