Mersey Ferries Suspended for Fourth Consecutive Day
Mersey Ferries Suspended for Fourth Day in a Row

Mersey Ferries have been suspended for the fourth consecutive day today (Monday, June 29). A message posted on the Mersey Ferries X account just before 7am stated: "Due to a technical issue, services are suspended today."

Replacement Services

Morning and afternoon commuter services will be replaced by buses between Hamilton Square and Seacombe to connect with Merseyrail services to and from Liverpool James Street. The operator advised passengers to "keep checking back" for updates on when services are likely to resume.

This marks the fourth day in a row that the ferries have been out of action. Mersey Ferries has announced the suspension of services every day since Thursday, June 25, each time citing a "technical issue."

Operator and Impact

The ferries are operated by Merseytravel for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. The Liverpool ECHO has approached the authority for more information about the reason behind the four-day suspension.

The commuter ferries typically transport passengers directly between Pier Head in Liverpool and Seacombe Ferry Terminal in Wirral. In addition to commuter services, river explorer cruises are also affected. The 50-minute cruises are popular with tourists, featuring recorded commentary on the history of the Mersey Ferries and Merseyside.
