Around 82 flights were either cancelled or delayed at Manchester Airport on Friday, October 16, with travellers warned to plan ahead before travelling. Flight-tracking website Flightradar24.com reported a number of delays at the airport on the day.
Airlines affected include Jet2, Ryanair, British Airways, Turkish Airlines, KLM, Qatar Airways and Virgin Atlantic, among others.
Longest delays and cancellations
The most significant disruption involved Ryanair flight FR3216 to Milan, scheduled for 12:20, which was estimated to depart at 23:14, a delay of 10 hours 54 minutes. Ryanair flight FR6818 to Milan, scheduled for 08:30, was estimated to depart at 10:05, a delay of 1 hour 35 minutes. easyJet flight U22065 to Kos, scheduled for 14:30, was estimated to depart at 16:06, a delay of 1 hour 36 minutes.
British Airways flight BA1361 to London, scheduled for 10:35, was cancelled. Other delays of more than an hour included Helvetic Airways flight LX391 to Zurich (1 hour 25 minutes), Ryanair flight FR6879 to Copenhagen (1 hour), easyJet flight U22263 to Krakow (1 hour 22 minutes), and Ryanair flight FR3206 to Rome (55 minutes).
Airlines and routes affected
Numerous flights operated by Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, TUI, KLM, Norwegian, SunExpress, SAS, Aer Lingus, and others were delayed by around 20 to 35 minutes. Routes affected included destinations across Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and North America, such as Bologna, Toronto, Istanbul, Orlando, Beijing, Prague, Oslo, Porto, Brussels, Palma de Mallorca, Dalaman, Hurghada, Antalya, Pisa, Dublin, Kos, Copenhagen, Cairo, Palermo, Rhodes, Paris, Sharm el-Sheikh, Budapest, Pafos, Tirana, Doha, Chania, Larnaca, Naples, Vienna, Marrakesh, Gran Canaria, Krakow, Catania, Weeze, Izmir, Malaga, Corfu, Casablanca, Dubrovnik, Girona, Alicante and Hamburg.
Among the specific delays listed, Loganair flight LM21 to Newquay was delayed by 25 minutes, Air Canada flight AC909 to Toronto by 25 minutes, and Qatar Airways flight QR28 to Doha by 25 minutes. Hainan Airlines flight HU754 to Beijing was also delayed by 25 minutes.
The disruption comes as travellers were advised to plan ahead for their journeys to and from the airport.
