Detectives from the British Transport Police have launched a public appeal for information following a serious sexual assault on a train travelling between Sheffield and Worksop.

CCTV images released in investigation

The force has released clear CCTV images of a woman they are urgently seeking to identify and speak to in connection with the incident. The assault occurred on the evening of Saturday, 14 December, at approximately 9.40pm.

According to investigators, the assault took place as a male victim walked past a woman's seat on the service. The woman is alleged to have sexually assaulted the man during this brief encounter.

In their statement, British Transport Police said: "Detectives believe the woman in these CCTV images may have information that could help with their investigation." They are urging anyone who recognises the individual pictured to come forward immediately.
