Emergency Services Respond to Distressed Man on Electricity Pylon in Brighouse
A major incident unfolded in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, on Sunday morning when a distressed man climbed a high-voltage electricity pylon, causing widespread power cuts across the area. The man, reportedly upset over a relationship issue, scaled the structure near Sainsbury's in the town centre, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Mass Power Outages Reported
As the man ascended the pylon, thousands of homes in Brighouse, Lightcliffe, Hove Edge, and surrounding regions were left without electricity. Emergency Response and Arrest
West Yorkshire Police were alerted at 9:15am and quickly mobilized alongside ambulance crews and firefighters. A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed they dispatched three Hazard Area Response Teams and two area commanders after being notified by police at 9:23am. The man climbed down from the pylon shortly after 11:30am and was arrested by authorities. Fortunately, he is not believed to have sustained any injuries during the ordeal.
