IKEA has issued an urgent recall for a popular household item, warning customers to stop using it immediately. The Swedish flatpack furniture giant recalled the IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL Garlic press in black after discovering a manufacturing defect during an internal investigation. Small metal pieces may detach from the kitchen tool during use and be accidentally ingested, posing a safety hazard.
Affected Products
The recall affects garlic presses with article number 601.636.02, sold worldwide in stores and online. Date stamps range from 2411 to 2522 (interpreted as year-week format, e.g., 2411 means 2024 week 11). The product also has an IKEA logo on the upper handle.
Customer Action Required
Customers are urged to stop using the garlic press immediately and contact IKEA for a full refund. No receipt or proof of purchase is needed. IKEA also asks customers to inform anyone who may have received the item as a gift or loan.
Apology and Other Recalls
IKEA apologised for the inconvenience. Other recent recalls include: spatula 365+ HJÄLTE (date stamp 2445 or later), power bank VARMFRONT (date stamps 2313, 2316, 2318, 2319), ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger (article 60461197), mirrors LETTAN (date stamps up to 2105), ROSTAD LÖK fried onion (best before 02-06-2026 to 22-11-2026), and BLÅVINGAD fishing game (all iterations due to choking hazard).
Date Stamp Information
IKEA date stamps use a year-week format. For the garlic press, the stamp is on the black plastic handle. For furniture, it is usually a 4-digit number on a sticker underneath or on the back. More details are available on the IKEA website.
