M6 closed both ways near Greater Manchester after lorry fire

A stretch of the M6 near Greater Manchester has been closed in both directions after a lorry burst into flames. Traffic was stopped on the motorway in Cheshire following the incident between junctions 18 at Middlewich and 19 at Knutsford.

Firefighters have rushed to the scene, with traffic queues quickly building. National Highways wrote on X: "M6 both directions between J18 (Middlewich) and J19 (Knutsford). Road closed due to a HGV fire. @CheshireFire are on scene. Delays are building, currently 10 mins on approach."
