Four separate incidents on the M25 caused misery for commuters on Tuesday morning, with traffic jams of over an hour reported near junctions 8, 14, 27, and 29.
There remains major disruption between junction 9 and 10 clockwise on the M25 following an earlier incident, with reported backlogs of around 45 minutes. Delays are also continuing clockwise between junction 12 and 16, though normal traffic conditions are expected within the hour.
Further Incidents Worsen Congestion
Two additional incidents have caused more delays on sections of the M25 this morning. A third incident happened on the clockwise carriageway between junction 8 at Reigate and junction 10 at the Wisley Interchange. The fourth occurred on the anticlockwise carriageway between junction 14 for Heathrow and junction 13 for Staines.
A collision on the anticlockwise carriageway, just before junction 29 for the A127, has left the road partially blocked. A second crash, reported to have involved a lorry and a car, is causing further delays at junction 27.
Rail Disruption Across London
There are severe delays on the Elizabeth line after a vehicle hit a bridge in the Langley area. Trains have to run at reduced speed on all lines, meaning trains running between London Paddington and Reading may be cancelled, delayed or revised. The incident is also causing disruption to some Great Western Railway services.
There are also severe delays on the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals and Reading due to a signal failure. Tickets are being accepted on the London Underground via any reasonable route, with a good service on the rest of the line.
Other Line Disruptions
There are severe delays on the Piccadilly Line between King's Cross St. Pancras and Acton Town westbound only due to an earlier faulty train. Tickets are being accepted on London Buses, Elizabeth line and Great Northern Railway, with a good service on the rest of the line.
There will be no service all day between Arena and Elmers End on London Tramlink due to a track fault at Lebanon Road, though other tram routes have a good service. Minor delays are also reported on the District line between Earls Court and Wimbledon and between Upminster and Tower Hill eastbound only due to train cancellations, with a good service on the rest of the line.
