Lumo, the open-access train operator, has confirmed the launch date for its new rival service connecting Stirling, Scotland, to London Euston. Starting on May 25, the route will offer fares under £30 each way for standard class travel, with the first train departing Stirling at 8:50 AM.
Direct Links for Three Scottish Stations
For the first time, passengers from Larbert, Greenfaulds, and Whifflet will have direct train services to London. This expansion marks a significant step in increasing passenger choice and competition on the West Coast Main Line.
Competition with Avanti West Coast
Lumo's new service introduces open-access competition to Avanti West Coast on this route. The Office for Rail and Road approved the project in March 2024, citing benefits such as more choices and competitive pricing, despite some government reservations about increased competition.
The move is expected to lower fares and improve service quality for passengers traveling between Scotland and London.
