A number of trains are facing cancellation at London Liverpool Street after an Overground train hit the buffers on Thursday morning. The out-of-service train collided with the buffer at the UK’s busiest train station at around 1am, leaving the driver with minor injuries. Footage shared online appears to show the Overground train derailed at the station.

Investigation Underway

Investigations into the collision are still ongoing and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been informed, with an inspector having been dispatched to the site of the incident. A spokesperson said: “We will gather evidence as part of the process of conducting a preliminary examination and a decision on whether or not an investigation will be launched will be taken once the evidence has been reviewed.”

The driver was transported to hospital, but has since been discharged.
