The Indian government has issued a firm warning to air travellers, stating that playing music loudly on flights could lead to legal action for what is termed "unruly behaviour". Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol confirmed that authorities will "act on complaints" regarding loud music, utilising existing regulations from the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA). These regulations define disruptive behaviour as any action that interferes with crew duties, jeopardises safety, or causes discomfort to other passengers and crew members.
Under the Aircraft Rules of 1937, passengers found in breach of these rules could face penal action, including removal from the aircraft or restraint during the flight. Acceptable Audio Practices on Flights
While loud personal music is being targeted, the government has clarified that certain audio practices are permissible. Airlines are allowed to play soft instrumental music during boarding and disembarking processes to enhance the passenger experience.
