EasyJet is launching new twice-weekly flights from Birmingham Airport to Agadir in Morocco, with one-way fares starting at £21.99. The route, announced in April, begins on 27 October and operates on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with package holidays also available.
Budget-friendly winter sun destination
Agadir has been ranked as a cost-effective winter sun spot. The Telegraph placed it third in a list of 15 budget-friendly winter sun destinations in 2024. According to Holiday Hypermarket, a three-course dinner in the tourist centre costs roughly £10 per person, compared with around £16.50 in Marrakech. A local beer costs about £2.30 in Agadir, against £3.65 in Marrakech, while bottled water starts at around 30p.
A coffee typically costs £1.36 and a simple meal around £3.16, according to eDreams, reports Birmingham Live. Accommodation savings are also notable. In 2022, Savoo named Agadir the cheapest destination for an all-inclusive summer break, with a six-night stay costing £490 per person, compared with £546 on the Costa Brava.
Weather and beach appeal
Prices have risen since then, but TravelSupermarket lists Agadir holidays for under £250 per person, with some of the best deals available in the shoulder seasons. Staying further from the beach can also help keep accommodation costs down. One travel budget website estimates that the cost of living for visitors to Agadir in 2026 is typically 47% lower than in the United States.
The weather is another draw. German travel website HolidayCheck included Agadir among its ten best destinations for sun and sea in September, highlighting its dry climate, wide beaches and warm waters. Temperatures also frequently reach 25C in November, making it an appealing option as the UK heads towards winter.
Agadir Bay and local attractions
Agadir's coastline joined the 'Club of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World' in 2002, with an official accolade presented to Souss-Massa-Draâ Regional Council. Agadir Bay stretches for 10 kilometres in a sweeping arc of golden sand, running from the modern marina in the north towards the southern district. Its sheltered position helps protect it from strong ocean winds.
Along the seafront, a palm-lined promenade is dotted with cafés, restaurants and hotels. The cooler months also attract surfers, with winter offering excellent waves. After a day in the water, visitors can relax in heated pools or traditional hammams in town.
Announcing the route in April, Kevin Doyle, easyJet's UK Country Manager, said: "We are delighted to announce a new service from Birmingham to Agadir, providing our customers in the Midlands with another connection to Morocco at great value fares."
