At least eight passengers on an EasyJet flight to Glasgow began vomiting mid-flight, prompting cabin crew to alert ground control before the aircraft landed safely.
Flight U23116 departed Sharm el-Sheikh late on Wednesday evening for the overnight journey across Europe. The incident unfolded while the jet was travelling through Dutch airspace.
Crew alerts operational command
Cabin crew had to "notify operational command and arrange ground support" after people became unwell during the journey, according to AirLive reports. Reports from the cockpit also show the pilots made contact with EasyJet Flight Operations Centre to flag a rapidly developing medical emergency.
The crew reportedly said at least eight people were suffering from severe nausea and vomiting, The Mirror reports.
Safe landing at Glasgow Airport
The jet continued on its planned flight path towards the UK before landing safely on Runway 23 at Glasgow Airport at around 2.45am BST.
An easyJet spokesperson said: "A small number of customers reported feeling unwell on flight EZY3116 from Sharm el Sheikh to Glasgow on October 21, with some indicating that this may have been related to food consumed at their hotel prior to the flight.
"The wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priory. Our crew informed the flight deck as precaution only, no medical assistance was required and the flight landed normally."
