EasyJet Cancels All Leeds Bradford Airport Flights

EasyJet has announced it will permanently cancel all flights from Leeds Bradford Airport from January 5, 2027, as the budget carrier shifts focus to routes it says are "more popular" with customers.

The airline launched its inaugural flight from Leeds Bradford Airport in 2010, to Geneva, and later added routes such as Belfast in 2021 and Paris in 2024. Existing routes from the airport include Barcelona, Majorca, Malaga, Paris, Geneva, and Belfast.

Airline Statement on Decision

In a statement, EasyJet said: "Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January."

The carrier added: "Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers. We value the relationship we have built with Leeds Bradford Airport and we always keep options for our network under review, with the aim of providing more choice and connectivity where we see demand."

Refunds and Alternatives for Passengers

EasyJet confirmed it has contacted passengers with flights beyond that date, offering options including free transfers to alternative flights or full refunds, according to reports from the Express.

The announcement comes just two weeks after EasyJet revealed it was set to be acquired in a £5.7 billion deal by private equity firm Apollo. Rising costs in jet fuel and reduced bookings have also triggered a 70% drop in profits for the company.

Impact on Leeds Bradford Airport

Last year, Leeds Bradford Airport unveiled its new £100 million terminal expansion, which includes additional retail space, seating, and fresh lounges. Other airlines still operating from the airport include Ryanair and Jet2.

The complete list of impacted routes includes Palma de Mallorca, Malaga, Paris, Barcelona, and Belfast.
