Cyprus Airways has announced a new daily direct route connecting London Stansted with Larnaca, giving British holidaymakers another option for reaching the Mediterranean. Flights are scheduled to operate from April 23, 2027, through September 16, 2027, with seats already on sale.
New Route Details and Timing
The service will run daily during the summer season, with fares starting from £29. Cyprus, known for summer temperatures exceeding 30C and mild spring weather, remains a popular destination for beach holidays, historic sites, and traditional tavernas. April is considered an ideal time to visit, with comfortable conditions for sightseeing before the peak summer heat.
Larnaca, located on the island's south-eastern coast, offers the palm-lined Finikoudes promenade, sandy beaches, and the ninth-century Church of Saint Lazarus. The nearby Larnaca Salt Lake attracts flamingos, while hillside villages and ancient ruins are scattered across the surrounding countryside. The city also provides access to Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paphos, and the Troodos Mountains.
Airline Expansion and Market Context
Thanos Pascalis, chief executive of Cyprus Airways, said the new service is an important addition to the network, reflecting the airline's focus on strengthening connectivity between Cyprus and key European markets. He described the United Kingdom as a particularly important market, with strong demand across leisure, business, and visiting friends and relatives.
Cyprus Airways, based at Larnaca International Airport, was revived in 2016 by Charlie Airlines after the original state-owned carrier collapsed in 2015. The airline operates a fleet of Airbus A220 and A320 aircraft, offering Economy and Business Class cabins on routes connecting Cyprus with mainland Europe and the Middle East.
The announcement comes alongside new routes from other carriers, including Ryanair's winter connections from Birmingham and Edinburgh starting at £29.99, easyJet's summer additions, Jet2's expanded services across five UK hubs, and British Airways' European holiday routes with tickets from £5.
