A new survey of 3,000 UK adults has revealed that coastal breaks are the most popular holiday type, with 52% of Brits preferring beach or seaside destinations. Away Resorts' research identified the UK's hidden gem beaches, with St Ninian's Isle Beach in Shetland topping the list and Bude Summerleaze Beach in Cornwall ranking second.
Summerleaze Beach boasts expansive sandy shores, a large car park, and the iconic Bude Sea Pool, a semi-natural seawater pool dating back to the 1930s. Seasonal lifeguard patrols from the RNLI ensure safety for swimmers, while adventure seekers can enjoy surfing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The beach also offers good accessibility, with a Changing Places toilet and beach sand wheelchair available.
Other popular southern beaches include Camber Sands in Sussex, West Wittering Beach, Bournemouth Beach, Kynance Cove, and Crantock Beach.
