Imminent Passport Fee Increases
According to official government sources, the cost of obtaining or renewing a British passport will rise from April 8, 2026. This adjustment affects all categories of applicants, including adults, children, and those applying from overseas. The HM Passport Office, which issues these essential travel documents, currently processes most applications within approximately three weeks or less.
Detailed Breakdown of New Costs
For standard adult passports, applicable to individuals aged 16 and over, the online application fee will increase from £94.50 to £102. Meanwhile, paper form submissions will see a rise from £107 to £115.50. Children's passports are not exempt from these hikes; the online fee will climb from £61.50 to £66.50, with postal applications increasing from £74 to £80.
Perhaps most notably, the Premium Service, which guarantees a passport within one day, will experience a substantial jump. Currently priced at £222, this expedited option will cost £239.50 from April 8 onwards.
