A woman claims a tank top from Shein reacted with her sun cream, leaving her with severe burns that she fears may cause permanent scarring. Soraya Young, 25, from Nottingham, was on holiday in Marmaris, Turkey, when she wore the £4.99 top over her bikini.
Ms Young, a civil servant, said she applied factor 30 suncream regularly during her trip. The following day, her boyfriend George Harris noticed a 'weird burn' on her back, which later blistered and leaked fluid. She consulted a doctor in Turkey who suggested the fabric reacted with the sun or pool chlorine.
After a painful flight home on July 29, Ms Young visited a GP who prescribed antibiotics and cream. She said the burn was 'agony' and she fears scarring. Shein has removed the product from sale as a precaution while investigating.
A Shein spokesperson said: 'Shein takes product safety very seriously... This is the first complaint of this nature that we have received for this item and we are taking it very seriously.'
