Scots can enjoy a 'breathtaking' mini-cruise of the Trossachs on board the historic Sir Walter Scott steamship this summer. The popular Loch Katrine cruise, which departs from Callander, is back on Itison throughout the school holidays and makes for a memorable family day out.
What the Cruise Offers
The two-hour scenic cruise down Loch Katrine on the Sir Walter Scott includes a mini-guide book and the opportunity to take in spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and look out for resident wildlife. Tickets cost under £25 for one or less than £50 for a family of four.
Historical Significance
First opened in 1859 by Queen Victoria, the loch is the setting for some of Scottish novelist Sir Walter Scott's most famous poetic works. Passengers will glide past stunning Trossach landmarks such as Ben A'an, Ben Venur and Brenachoile during their voyage.
Pricing and Availability
Itison is selling adult tickets from £21 per person or a family ticket that includes two adults and two children for £47. Once purchased, the deal is valid until October 25, 2026, but tickets are likely to sell fast thanks to the steamship's glowing five-star reviews.
Awards and Reviews
The Sir Walter Scott was awarded 2025 Flagship of the Year by National Historic Ships and the experience has been rated 4.6/5 with a Travellers' Choice Award 2025. In addition, 100% of Itison customers would also recommend and return on the Loch Katrine cruise.
