Ryanair has told passengers to stop doing skincare on short-haul flights, a move that has sparked backlash from travellers who criticised the airline's social media approach.
The budget carrier posted on Facebook: "Stop doing skincare onboard, it's a 2-hour flight." The post follows previous advice from the airline telling passengers to "please stop wearing" jeans during flights.
Passenger reactions
Many passengers responded angrily in the comments section. One person said: "Stop measuring my bag with a ruler like it's national security, it's a 2-hour flight." Another added: "Please tell the cabin crew to put a smile on their face - It's just a 2-hour flight."
A third commenter wrote: "Carry on like this and I'll allow my husband to bring his foot file and use it on our trip over to UK on the November 5." A fourth said: "What are these bizarre Ryanair posts about?! You'd think their marketing team would manage social media in a more sophisticated way?!"
Other pet peeves
Others used the post to share their own frustrations with short-haul flights. One person said: "Travel pillows for 1-2 hour flights still intrigue me more than skincare." Another added: "Skincare? I've actually seen a man clipping his nails! This should be strictly prohibited under financial sanctions!"
A third commenter said: "Don't start clapping before the plane has even landed!"
Ryanair has built a reputation on social media for joking about its own passengers and threatening to introduce more regulations and charges, such as extra legroom seats or late check-in fees.
