The Rocky Mountaineer, recently crowned the world’s best train route by Travel + Leisure, has announced a new service through the Canadian Rockies for summer 2026. The ‘Passage to the Peaks’ route will operate on a limited-time basis between Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper in June and July.
The two-day journey, available westbound or eastbound, includes an overnight hotel stay, with packages extendable up to nine nights. Highlights along the way include Mount Rundle, Pyramid Falls and Mount Robson, as travellers are immersed in evergreen forests, glacial lakes and towering mountains.
Prices range from £1,670 to £7,193 per person depending on the package chosen. Optional activities include a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain and an Ice Explorer trip to the Athabasca Glacier, part of one of the largest ice fields south of the Arctic Circle.
The new route coincides with the FIFA World Cup in Vancouver, offering an alternative experience for visitors seeking quieter surroundings. Rocky Mountaineer said: “With the city expected to welcome a significant number of visitors, we’re excited to offer an alternative route for those seeking a quieter experience.”
