A little-known Premier Inn price finder tool can help you find cheap seaside breaks during the six-week school holidays, particularly if you are flexible about location and dates. According to Which?, the tool allows you to search for hotels in a certain area or view all available rooms, showing prices across different dates and locations.
How to use the price finder
You can either enter a location such as a county in the top bar or leave it blank to see all Premier Inn rooms. Choose a room type from double, twin, family, or accessible, then select the month you wish to travel and scroll across to see prices for different dates. Clicking a price takes you to the booking page, where the price may appear higher due to the Flex booking option automatically selected. This option is refundable until 1pm on the booking date. You can switch to the cheaper Non-Flex option, or choose the Standard rate for a slight extra cost that allows amendments up to 1pm on the check-in date.
Cheapest deals and tips
Weekdays are generally cheapest, though Sunday nights can also offer bargains. It is advisable to check the hotel's location on the map before booking, as some seaside towns have multiple Premier Inns, and not all are close to the seafront. At the time of writing, August bargains included £57 per night at Bournemouth Westbourne, £58 at St. Austell in Cornwall (a few miles from the sea), £56 at Southend On Sea Eastern Esplanade (on the seafront), and £57 at Blackpool Beach later in August. The South Shields location offered rooms from £44, a ten-minute drive from Sandhaven Beach.

Premier Inn is not the only chain with a budget room finder. Travelodge Pricefinder lets you search by location, beach, city breaks, or other stay types. At the time of use, mid-August rooms were available at Brighton Seafront for £50, Southport for £51, and Poole North for £57. The cheapest deal was at Travelodge Plymouth, with a room for August 16 showing at £31.
