Pleasurewood Hills, a family theme park near Lowestoft in Suffolk, has submitted planning proposals to East Suffolk Council for four new rides as part of a modernisation drive. The park, which first opened in 1983, aims to boost visitor numbers and remain competitive in the regional tourism market.
The proposed attractions include the Star Flyer, a 30-metre-high thrill ride offering panoramic views across the park, and a 36-metre Big Wheel designed for families. Also planned are the Apple Coaster and the Spinning Coaster, a 12-metre-tall family-friendly roller coaster. All four rides would be located on land previously used for attractions.
The application follows the purchase of the park by Premier Attraction Ltd in October 2024. A planning statement said the proposals form part of a wider strategy to reinvigorate the park, increase visitor numbers, extend dwell time, and ensure it remains competitive within the regional tourism and leisure market.
If approved, the new rides will join a wave of UK theme park investments. Chessington World of Adventures, for example, is constructing a £15 million Paw Patrol-themed land, while Thorpe Park is replacing an iconic attraction.
