Pical Resort in Croatia’s Istria region offers a serene, family-friendly all-inclusive experience that defies traditional expectations, with Michelin-starred dining and a UNESCO-listed Old Town on its doorstep.
The resort, which opened in March 2026, is a short distance from the UNESCO-listed Old Town and is a far cry from the screaming-children-family-resorts of old. On arrival, the serene welcome reception set a calm tone, making the early morning flight and airport queues quickly forgotten.
Guests can dine across eight restaurants, including the Oliva Grill, where light salads, gourmet dishes, and fresh seafood are served. The resort’s eatery, Harry's Piccolo Poreč, received a Michelin star just months after opening, offering a 12-course tasting menu with wine pairing.
Dining and Local Attractions
The restaurant was created in collaboration with acclaimed chefs Matteo Metullio and Davide De Pra, whose original Harry's Piccolo in Trieste holds two stars, with the Poreč kitchen led by chef Goran Hrastovčak. Fogo by Bekel was another highlight, featuring al fresco steak and curated cocktails.
Beyond the resort, the harbour offers vibrant restaurants and friendly locals. Visitors can catch a ferry to Venice in around three hours, or explore the coast by jet ski. The area is also home to an underwater labyrinth that swimmers can snorkel down to.
Back on land, the Radovan Winery, run by Frank and Danijela with their children Anna and Antonio, offers a modern countryside setting with a patio that feels distinctly south of France-esque.
Spa and Relaxation
The resort’s ESPA spa offers treatments such as the full Korean glow, including hair masks and mango face cleanser sorbet. The spa features oils, relaxing music, water beds, and breathing workshops, followed by an ESPA facial where the specialist advised on skincare improvements.
A boat tour provided views of Pical’s beautiful Old Town, which dates back to Roman times, with a preserved floor mosaic from the second half of the 4th century in the church garden.
The four-day stay felt too short to explore the resort’s 11 pools, nine bars, exclusive beach club, adults-only champagne spots, vast gamerooms, and the spa, along with the scenic town, cycle spots, adventure playgrounds, and hiking trails nearby.
