Former Liverpool and Norway defender John Arne Riise, who turned 46 on Thursday, September 24, had a short-lived romance with former glamour model Katie Price, but the evenings they shared were memorable for the wrong reasons, according to Price, also known as Jordan.
The British ex-glamour model compared the full-back to a "cordless drill" when describing their intimate encounters during their fling in late 2011 and early 2012, when the Champions League winner was playing for Fulham.
Unflattering Memoir Assessment
While Price was left unsatisfied, Riise provided her with material for her memoir, Reborn. Price delivered a blunt assessment: "If I'd needed a shelving unit erected, he'd have been perfect."
"Instead of handling me gently and passionately like most women want, he was like a cordless drill on a multi-speed setting! He reminded me of a red Bosch that I have in my garage," she wrote. "Bang...bang...bang, bang, bang. At one point I panicked, thinking, 'S***, if he doesn't stop soon, I'm going to be permanently attached to the bed!' Mr X wasn't having sex with me, he was having sex at me."
Mystery Man Revealed
The mystery lover was only known as Mr X until a national newspaper revealed his identity in 2016, writing: "John Arne Riise is Katie's mystery Mr X."
Riise had always fancied Price and jumped at the chance to be introduced to her. She took more persuading as he wasn't her type, but after a while they started hooking up for a few months. The relationship fizzled out, and she decided to discuss it in her book, with few complimentary remarks about his bedroom moves.
Romance Ends and Later Life
Price ended the brief romance after Riise, who won the Champions League with Liverpool against AC Milan in Istanbul in 2005, was allegedly caught getting intimate with other women. A source revealed: "Katie suspected he wasn't really that into her after a friend spotted him out and about looking cosy with another woman. She was hardly besotted with him so she called it off."
Riise later settled down with Louise Angelica, whom he married in 2014, though they reportedly split in 2021. He retired from playing in 2017, before making a brief comeback in 2023 for Avaldsnes, where he managed the women's side, making one appearance and even scoring.
