Pasture Steak Restaurant Plans Barcelona Expansion

The Pasture Restaurant Group, owner of Cardiff's top-rated steak restaurant Pasture, has secured a £4.5m refinancing package to fund its first international expansion in Barcelona, Spain. The group, which also operates venues in Bristol and Birmingham, plans to use the funds to invest in existing locations and open a new restaurant in the Catalan capital.

World-Renowned Steakhouse

Pasture's Cardiff restaurant, which opened in 2020, was recognized among the world's top 50 steak restaurants in 2024. The group was founded in Bristol in 2018 by chef-owner Sam Elliott and has since expanded across three cities, diversifying its offering to include the Nightshade speakeasy bar and Parallel restaurant in Cardiff, a farm and vineyard that supplies wine and produce, a butcher's shop, and an online store.

Funding and Future Plans

The refinancing package, provided by Barclays, will support the group's next phase of growth. Sam Elliott said: "When I founded Pasture Restaurant Group, the goal was simple: to combine great cooking with outstanding local produce. Eight years on, it's incredibly rewarding to see customers continue to connect with that vision, and we're excited to be entering the next phase of growth with plans to open our first international restaurant in Barcelona."

Greer Hooper of Barclays added: "In less than a decade, the group has established itself across key locations including Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham, building a reputation for quality and consistency. Their continued growth is a clear demonstration of their proposition and their ability to succeed in a highly competitive and evolving sector."

Celebrity Patronage

Pasture in Cardiff recently hosted Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo during the band's visit to the city. His group ordered a mix of fillet steaks, fresh fish, fire-roast chicken, and the venue's famous beef shortrib croquettes.
