A group of naturists is planning a naked visit to Jupiter Artland, the sculpture park near Edinburgh that was shortlisted for the 2016 Art Fund Museum of the Year award. The naturists aim to experience the outdoor artworks without clothing, embracing the natural setting of the estate.
Jupiter Artland, created by Robert and Nicky Wilson, features over 30 specially commissioned sculptures by leading artists such as Anish Kapoor, Marc Quinn, and Antony Gormley. The park is set in a 120-acre landscape with wooded areas, a lake, and a Jacobean house.
The naturists' visit is scheduled for a day when the park is closed to the public, to avoid any potential issues. A spokesperson for the group said the naked tour would allow them to connect more deeply with the art and the environment.
Robert Wilson, co-founder of Jupiter Artland, expressed surprise but openness to the idea. 'We believe art should be accessible to everyone, and if people want to experience it in their own way, that's fine,' he said.
The park, which opened to the public in 2009, has seen visitor numbers rise from 40,000 to 70,000 in recent years. It remains a popular destination for art lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
