Malta Named Most Underrated Country by Travel Influencer

A travel influencer has sparked interest in Malta, calling it the "most underrated country in the world" and showcasing how visitors can enjoy a five-night holiday for less than £500, including flights and hotel. Hannah, who shares travel advice on TikTok under the handle @hannahshols, visited the Mediterranean island nation in 2024 and was captivated by its unique blend of cultures, stunning scenery, and affordability.

Affordable Getaway for Under £500

During her trip with friends, Hannah found that each person paid just over £400 for flights, a five-night hotel stay with a rooftop pool and breakfast, plus baggage and transfers. "Malta is by far the most underrated country I think I've ever visited," she said in a TikTok video that garnered over one million likes. Located south of Italy and north of Tunisia, Malta is a three-hour flight from the UK, making it a convenient and budget-friendly destination for British travellers.

Unique Cultural Blend and Attractions

Hannah praised Malta's distinct character, noting its strong Arabic and Roman influences. "One thing I loved about Malta was that it was like nowhere I'd ever been before," she explained. "It's got such strong Arabic and Roman influences." She recommended exploring the capital city of Valletta on foot or via the bus network, which she described as "super convenient and cheap." Activities include roaming the streets, dining al fresco, visiting boutique shops, wandering through gardens, watching the cannons fire at the saluting battery, and checking out the harbour front.
