French Resort Le Touquet Offers Discounted Week for British Tourists
Le Touquet Offers Discounted Week for UK Tourists

The upscale French seaside resort of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage is launching a week-long programme of discounted activities aimed at rekindling interest among British tourists. Located on the Opal Coast of northern France, the commune will host the event from 25 to 31 May, offering a series of events 'specially designed to delight our British guests who want to experience the Le Touquet way of life'.

Activities and Offerings

The itinerary includes a town market, guided horse rides along the beach, sand yachting sessions, bike tours, and shrimp fishing. Additional highlights are guided tours of Le Touquet–Elizabeth II Airport, a classic car gathering, and dinners prepared by Michelin-starred chef Alexandre Gauthier. The tourist office will provide welcome bags as a complimentary gift for visitors.

Post-Brexit Strategy

Historically known as the 'most British of French resorts', Le Touquet attracted notable figures such as PG Wodehouse and Winston Churchill. However, following Brexit, British tourist numbers declined from 20 per cent of total visitors. Councillor Kate Landry, who is British-born, explained to Radio France that the initiative aims to help British visitors overcome language barriers and enjoy activities they might have previously avoided. All activities will be conducted in English, given the resort's proximity to the UK coast.
