Kinneuchar Inn named best pub in Scotland for 2026

The Kinneuchar Inn in the Fife village of Kilconquhar has been named the best pub in Scotland in the Good Food Guide's 2026 roundup of the 100 Best Pubs in the UK. The 17th century pub and restaurant placed at number 14 on the overall list, which was unveiled on Monday, November 2, in partnership with Timothy Taylor's Landlord and supported by Square.

Award-winning Fife venue

The venue, set in the heart of the scenic East Neuk village, offers a comfortable bar and a vaulted dining room, along with a wide range of craft beers, ciders, wines, and spirits. It was previously crowned the Best Local Restaurant in Scotland for 2023 by the Good Food Guide and has also been included in the Michelin Guide.

The restaurant features a daily-changing à la carte menu based on ingredients sourced from the nearby Balcaskie Estate, as well as a selection of carefully selected partners. Menu options include Balcaskie Estate venison ragu with pappardelle and pecorino, Louet Feisser oysters and shallot vinegar, and marmalade and treacle tart with crème fraîche.

Top eight pubs across Scotland

In second place for Scotland, and number 57 overall, is The Taybank in Dunkeld. The Perthshire hotel, bar, and restaurant sits along the banks of the River Tay and is home to one of the biggest beer gardens in Scotland. It offers separate lunch, dinner, garden, and Sunday menus, with everything from pizzas and gnocchi to Aberdeen Angus or farm hogget roasts, alongside local beers, gins, and sparkling, red, white, pink, and orange wines.

The Applecross Inn in Wester Ross is third-best in Scotland, coming in at number 67 overall. The waterfront pub and restaurant offers a large variety of beers, spirits, and liqueurs for visitors to enjoy with sea views.

Fourth place goes to The Keelson in Edinburgh, at number 69 overall, a modern pub specialising in rotisserie chicken with a wide selection of cocktails and mocktails. The Clachan Inn in St John's Town of Dalry and Nobles in Edinburgh take fifth and sixth place respectively, with the former on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park and the latter in the Leith area.

Completing the list

The Flying Stag in Braemar is seventh, offering local beers, Scottish whiskies, and spirits, while The Clarence in Glasgow is eighth, with draught pints, wines by the glass, and cocktails.

Adam Hyman, owner of the Good Food Guide, commented: "While our industry continues to adapt to the new norm of what running a hospitality business looks like in Britain, our Best Pubs list once again shows that some of the best food and hospitality can be found in pubs."

Louise McLaughlin, marketing director at Timothy Taylor's, added: "The Good Food Guide's 100 Best Pubs celebrates everything that's great about the British pub: warm hospitality, quality food and drink, character, and a genuine connection to local communities. These are the kinds of pubs Timothy Taylor's is proud to champion, and we're delighted to help shine a light on the publicans, their teams, and the loyal regulars who keep this important part of our culture thriving. Congratulations to all of this year's winners."

The Queens Arms in Eccles was crowned the overall number one pub in the UK, noted for its unique mix of English heritage and Japanese cuisine. The full UK-wide list of the top 100 pubs can be found on the Good Food Guide website.
