Carden Park Spa Review: A Celeb-Favourite Winter Retreat With Igloos & Fine Dining
Inside the celeb-loved Cheshire spa with igloos and fine dining

As Christmas approaches, the search for the perfect festive gift or restorative winter escape intensifies. I recently discovered a hidden gem that ticks every box for luxury and relaxation, a spa retreat nestled in the Cheshire countryside that has become a firm favourite with A-list celebrities.

A Secluded Haven for the Stars

Carden Park Hotel, set within lush, secluded grounds, is reportedly the chosen bolthole for famous couples including Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, as well as Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury. Its discreet location offers a complete escape from city life, yet it's conveniently close to the historic city of Chester and the shopping outlet Cheshire Oaks.

The hotel's reputation for glamour was cemented during the pandemic when it served as the plush eviction hotel for contestants booted from I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, then filming in North Wales. For this average visitor, however, the question was whether it could deliver the same level of blissful escape.

An Idyllic Spa Experience, Rain or Shine

The spa is housed in a separate, immaculate building that smells divine. Welcomed by warm staff and enveloped in a soft, fluffy robe, I was ready to unwind with my mum and sister. The centrepiece is the stunning spa garden, which features heated glass pods (the beautiful 'igloos'), bubbling jacuzzis, and warming fire pits, creating a high-end, wintry paradise.

Braving a drizzly November day in a swimsuit was swiftly forgotten upon sinking into the vitality pool. My 50-minute 'Time-to-Pause' ritual treatment was so immersive I managed to completely disconnect, leaving my skin glowing. Post-treatment, the deep relaxation room with a crackling fire was the perfect seasonal spot to linger.

Culinary Delights to Match the Pampering

The indulgence extends far beyond the treatment rooms. Lunch at the spa's Elements restaurant was a highlight, featuring a delicious Tandoori Chicken Open Sandwich and what were arguably the best salt and pepper chips I've ever tasted. The peach mimosas were exquisite.

Dinner at the hotel's award-winning à la carte restaurant, The Vines, elevated the experience further. The atmosphere was elegantly cosy, and the tasting menu was superb. Standout dishes included the sublime BBQ Cheshire Venison Loin and a stunning roasted monkfish. A knowledgeable sommelier paired each course with creative drinks, with a sweet Hungarian Tokaji wine and a Brown Butter XO cocktail being personal favourites.

Throughout, the service was exceptional. Staff even arranged for hot chocolate treats to be waiting for us back at the spa garden's Bollinger champagne bar, where we cosied up in a heated pod with complimentary hot water bottles.

Thermal Galore and a Perfect Night's Sleep

The spa facilities are extensive. After enjoying the outdoor sauna and jacuzzis, we explored the Indoor Thermal Suite, which boasts a gallery of experiences from a Finnish sauna to a Tepidarium, encircling a sparkling ice fountain. The indoor vitality pool, with its therapeutic jets and garden views, was another haven.

Retiring to a clean, comfortable room with deep, plush pillows, I enjoyed the easy sleep of the truly pampered. Having experienced many spa days, Carden Park stands in a league of its own for its idyllic setting, impeccable facilities, and outstanding food and drink.

It is the ultimate winter bolthole, whether for a pre-Christmas treat or a January reset. Packages currently on offer include an Indulgent Spa Day for £299 and A Little Winter Love Morning Spa Experience for £195. For a truly memorable gift that rivals a celebrity lifestyle, look no further.
