Three people have been injured after rocks crashed onto a hotel in Ibiza during heavy rainfall, with four individuals reportedly trapped at the four-star Vibra Tropical Garden Apartments. The hillside behind the hotel gave way, triggering a landslide as the island faced a red weather warning.
In video footage of the incident, a British holidaymaker can be heard repeatedly exclaiming 'Oh my God' as the drama unfolded. Two of the casualties received on-site assistance for minor injuries, while a third was taken to a nearby private hospital. The fourth trapped individual escaped unscathed. It remains unclear whether any British tourists were among the injured.
The landslide forced the evacuation of 220 guests, who were relocated to other hotels in the resort of Playa d'en Bossa. Ibiza Town Council confirmed the evacuation and casualty count overnight, adding that two others were injured elsewhere in the island capital due to unexpected floods.
The storm also caused significant disruption at Ibiza Airport, with water cascading through the terminal roof and delays averaging an hour. Sections of the airport route were closed after becoming impassable, forcing travellers to trek with luggage. Armed forces were deployed, and police reinforcements were dispatched from Majorca.
