Five businesses in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle are set to close this weekend. Ahead of their farewell, several events were announced, giving customers a final chance to enjoy the venues before they shut their doors for the winter.
Picante’s final days
Picante opened last March, offering a classic range of Mexican food including nachos, tacos and a variety of margaritas. Joe Wild, once owner of Taco or Don't, adapted his Mexican food business into Picante with the help of Kate, a managing partner of Gin Journey. The team was completed by Sally Jo Whitlow and Danny Murphy of Jenn's Bar and Berry & Rye respectively.
Set across two floors in the former Dockleaf site, Picante “conjured the essence of Guadalajara and its bustling cantina scene”. Picante is a temporary venture and always intends to close after the summer months. Announcing its closure once again, the business said: "Season two is over. It's out last week. No, honestly you stop it. Come down for all the cool stuff we got going on - or don't."
Sub Rosa and Burner say goodbye
Outdoor cocktail bar Sub Rosa, along with its on-site burger kitchen, Burner, will also be closing this weekend for the winter. The Kings Dock Street venue launched in 2021, featuring a large events space with seating areas made from converted trolleys and a bar made from a shipping container.
A message from Sub Rosa to guests reads: "It’s the last weekend of the year and, to be honest, I was going to make a better post, maybe even a video, but I am super busy with wedding and party enquiries for next year. Anyway, I just wanted to take a quick moment to say thank you for everyone that’s visited this year. I know we aren’t in the most central location and it’s a choice to come see us and I'm honoured and humbled by everyone that’s held a party here, had a function here, hosted a great event or just swung by for a Burner burger and a beer."
Botanical Garden and Cheeky Buns close
Sub Rosa's sister venue and outdoor gin bar, Botanical Garden, along with its new burger pop-up, Cheeky Buns, are also saying goodbye to the summer trade. Botanical Garden said: "Come see us before our much needed six month hiatus. Our hours have shrunk as we approach autumn. We are very grateful to all our guests old and new who make the summer a totally enjoyable place to be."
Cheeky Buns issued its own statement, which said: "Wow, so here we are, the last week of the season at the gorgeous Botanical Garden and it’s been a bloody ball. Absolutely loved slinging my buns at you all. We are open for our final week until Saturday so make sure you come and say hi/bye to us and our gorgeous mates on the bar."
